What Is Tantric (Akara) Numerology?
Have you ever felt a number land in your body before your mind had finished explaining it? A birth date, read aloud, that settled somewhere you could not name?
That recognition is the doorway into Tantric Numerology.
A system with several names
You may have seen this work called Tantric Numerology, Yogic Numerology, or Akara Numerology. These are not three different systems. They are the same lineage, carried under different names as it has moved through different teachers and communities.
The system traces back through the Kundalini Yoga tradition taught in the West by Yogi Bhajan, who drew on a far older Tantric understanding of the body as layered, energetic, and numerically encoded. Where it differs from the numerology most people have encountered is in what it reads, and how it reads it.
What it actually reads
Pythagorean Numerology, the system most familiar in the West, works primarily with your name, converting letters into numbers and reducing them to a single digit. It is a numerology of language and identity.
Tantric Numerology works differently. It takes the full digits of your birth date, every single one, and sums them. That sum is then reduced, through repeated addition, to a number between zero and eleven. Each of those numbers corresponds not to a personality trait, but to one of ten energetic bodies, layers of your being that the Kundalini tradition holds as the architecture through which a soul moves through a human life.
These ten bodies include the Soul Body, the Negative Mind, the Positive Mind, the Neutral Mind, the Physical Body, the Arcline, the Aura, the Pranic Body, the Subtle Body, and the Radiant Body, with an eleventh number representing the integration of all ten together.
A Tantric Numerology reading does not tell you who you are. It tells you which of these bodies is most active in a particular position in your chart, your Soul number, your Karma number, your Gift, your Destiny, your Path, and what that body’s nature tends to ask of you.
Why this matters for how you read yourself
Most numerology you encounter online is built on the Pythagorean system alone. That is not wrong, but it is partial. It reads the name and the reduced birth number, the surface signature.
Tantric Numerology adds a second layer entirely, one rooted in the body itself rather than in language. When the two systems are read together, alongside the Gematria of your name and the architecture of your Soul Remembrance Map, a far more complete mirror begins to take shape. Not a personality test. A reflection of the pattern your life has been quietly moving through all along.
